Pearse and Connoly, Connoly and Pearse. No more one without the other; for the good of Erin, for the good of the Irish Nation, Irish People and more so for the good of the Irish Republic they themselves fought for and the Irish People deserve
In their real life themselves naturally moved politically and
ideologically close one to each other. 1916 are both. Erin's freedom are both. Irish Independence are both. Champions of the People are both. A Socialist, free and democratic Republic are both. Was not Mellows?
Going forward without looking back or around has brought
nations and humanity - the combination of the people’s of the nations- to the ugly and bad situation we are in.
Material thing are necessary of course. But what things and
at what cost. That has to be always the thinking first of all. Like with the
homeless crisis. Don’t use more nature resources that the necessary.
If they
are thousands of empty houses and flats, some of them nice irish architectonic
style, not the ugly modern global shit style, why you are going to spend
resources and energy that can be saved or used in other purpuses.
But the main point here is that materialism itself, without a
necessary natural and moral compass has brought down so many nice revolutionary
political projects, ventures and experiments. The main one the USSR , or Libya much more
recently. Because materialism grow itself and like black matter attracts everything and everyone, and with the capitalist-imperialist-usurer forces influence (as Connolly put it, the mentality that they planted in us and our nations), the corruption and rottenness stain and infects everything like a cancer, and as has been said, finally bring down individuals, people, nations and liberating projects. We shall learn sooner than latter, for us, for the cause, for the future, for the kids.
Matter without Spirit is nothing worth of defending or
fighting for. Body without soul, is not interesting. Materially rich and
spiritually poor and you are talking of a bourgeois whatever the colour of his
flag. And Nation like the Irish with so much nice and beautiful heritage, culture, traditions, histories to learn form, and take from for actual benefit, to the joy of the people and for their
good.
Liam Mellows put all this PERFECTLY. Was he not the direct political successor of Connolly? Then why we don't listen to him?
We do not seek to make this country a materially great country at the expense of its honour in any way whatsoever. We would rather have this country poor and indigent, we would rather have the people of Ireland eking out a poor existence on the soil; as long as they possessed their souls, their minds, and their honour. This fight has been for something more than the fleshpots of Empire.
All his speech is more than worthy to be read and re-read
