Cantabria, an ancient Nation, suffering genocide from Spain (from Left and Right spaniards and political positions)

Luciano Malumbres, a Cantabrian Republican Leader and Martyr (Cantabrian, Republican and true  Socialist)  murder in a fascist terrorist attacked organized from Madrid just days before the attempt of fascist coup in the Cantabrian Country, that was easily crush.

He was a popular leader among the Cantabrian popular classes. He was involved in Cantabrian culture activities, he was a political activist, he was a journalist and head of a newspaper where the Cantabrian positions and the Cantabrian People have  a voice and a space.
He was an anti-fascist and an advocate of a Cantabrian State in the form of a Republic. Nearly 20.000 people attended his funeral. A general strike in the city was declared for two days. Even right-wing Cantabrian and non-friends of him were astonished to the popular response and feelings. Shamelessly many pro-spanish and spanish left wing use his funeral and his martyrdom to build their profile and positions. Positions that they use later to sold out the Cantabrian People that really mourn Luciano Malumbres.
He was killed because they see him as a would-be Cantabrian National Leader in the would situation that was going to start in days more weeks since his murder.
A Cantabrian Shock-Regiment was created within the Cantabrian Army with his name.
And later one, during the Resistance period after the military defeat in 1937, a Cantabrian Guerrilla Brigade had his name.

Thanks of course to the spanish fascist and right-wing, but importantly, to the efforts to erase his memory and real stances by the spanish left and the pro-spanish cantabrian left (official and "radical") he was practically unknown already in the '90 and '00. Some individuals, when coming to him and his real stance and story, start to work with their means and possibilities to try to put him in the place he belongs. Still, to this days and even the so call "cantabrian" left, because his truth, honesty and militant position and example, that shadows their suppose "patriotism"  and/or "nationalism" (sic), they keep working to have him and his example unknown to the Cantabrian People, particularly the young generations. Funny enough the only remember his wife. His wife, Zapata, was andalucian living in Cantabria for long time. She share with him most of the social believes and of course she was respectful for his love to his Land and People, Cantabrian he was. Zapata became known and famous because she took the positions of his husband when Malumbres was killed. And she kept of course the real Cantabrian line and make the newspaper more Communist. But as said, they ignore Luciano Malumbres, but only remember Zapata that sadly was detained when after the collapse of the fronts was trying to pass to France, was tortured and shot (as has been said, remember well both, and remember more, and for sure if you are Cantabrian!, the one that did more for the Cantabrian Nation and People; Malumbres was an advocate of the cantabrian pride, an anti-fascist and a cultural and political activist already for decades when he was murdered)

The young Cantabrian men are pointing to the place of the bar, of a popular area of Santander, where Malumbres was sitting and playing cards with friend when he was shot at and fatally wounded.

Rest In Peace

A Republican political graffiti in a Cantabrian wall, from a couple of years ago. Read, "Cantabria, MotherLand"

Spain, through its left wing and right has been working against the ancient Cantabrian Nation.
More dramatically this was seen for example in the 20s and 30s of the past century. The Cantabrian People was overwhelmingly Republican (with all tendencies Cantabrian Republicans, Liberal Republicans, Left and Right pro-spanish Republicans, even quite conservative Republicans oppose to the spanish monarchy) and with their mass demonstrations and struggle played a big part in the creation of a Spanish Republic.
Yet, in 1936 all Cantabrian Republicans and even many right-wing people  acknowledge the de facto independent Cantabrian Republic and most of the People supported it (the L-R pro spanish ones as they prove later they remain "loyal" as a troyan horse, working to sabotage, with the small number of real fascists).
In 1937 the cantabrians pro-spanish played a shameful role, like one of its leader Bruno Alonso. But worse was the role of the spaniards living in Cantabria, many of then holding many of the high positions in the police, high military command and in many of the political parties.
They censor the newspaper of the murdered Luciano Malumbres, because following his example and lead, the remaining team and his wife, that became the head of it, keep a true Cantabrian and Republican position as well and progressing from hard Socialist position to Communist ones. The Spanish republic through its agents in Cantabria and the Cantabrian Government close the newspaper, just weeks before the fascist offensive. This is a political example.
A military example of treachery of the spanish left against  the Cantabrian Nation: the Cantabrian Army was compose in the ranks and middle officials of the Cantabrian Army basically of natives (at that time there were no so many spanish settlers as today), and even that the fighting spirit  among them was high, other story was among some medium ranks, the higher ranks and high command where there was a very big percentage of spanish. The main military man, spanish army man, loyal to the spanish republic and therefore show as an anti-fascist , was a spaniard.
With this no surprise that basic defensive preparations, responsibility and duty of the higher ranks, were not done. No surprise that they sold the Cantabrian Army when the spanish fascist offensive started, calling the Cantabrian Army to Santander, a geographical trap.

Once there were close to  Santander, they give map and detail information to the fascist about were the cantabrian units where, and the most combative of them. When the thousands of cantabrian republican soldiers realize the trap feeling went down.Still the were able to play them, and of course all with the prospect of the enemy coming at any time. The high command in Santander fled in a submarine. The common people were left there, in the trap made by them, to wait the fascist. Thousands of them would be killed.

After the dictatorship and during the turbulent times of the '80s, the Spanish left, more shamelessly the one that portrait itself as radical, was anti-Cantabrian. Of course apparently Cantabrian-friendly, but working against the National and Popular Cantabrian Identity and positions. A lot of them show this working as internationalist oppose to nationalism but was ok to support the basques mainly, and the catalans as well.

The truth of the matter that even, to this day they keep their anti-Cantabrian work. And they have some allies that pose as pro-"cantabrian" cultural activists and so. Shame on all them!

The progress that all this people  have brought to the Cantabrians.
Killing them inside...
