Against the personality cult, anyone and anywhere

Nowadays it seems that more than personality cults we have egocentrism and selfishness. Egocentrism of some leaders and a lot of people that are like fans or groupies.

But not so long away it did exist widely. Most of it, as we know the phenomenon of this type of cult, within the communist international movement. But we can't  deceive ourselves, it did happens at other level or under other form within the anarchist movement, the socialists movement, here in Ireland, within the Republican Movement at some stages with some people.

Because there is a lot of hypocrisy like with a majority of anarchist, for example, not only when they talk that they don't have leaders, or flags...and then you point them their anarchist flags, and then they say that yes is a flag, but not like other flags...Or the socialists that complain about the cult of Stalin of course, not much or nothing of the cult of Lenin and for sure nothing at all of the cult of marx.

Or the very system itself when they critize the socialists and communists experiences, like the USSR, and they complain about the personality cult of their leaders. But then, time for the sports section of the news: personality cult of soccer players and others in other sports is not bad; or personality cults of some of their politicians, army personnel, scientists, researchers, journalist, singers. This cults are not bad. The socialists and communist are bad.

Of course McT N is against the personality cult and that does not mean the acknowledge of leaders, or the example set by past heroes, fighters or honest activist of course. Humans are not gods, then don't treat any one like gods that are incapable or mistake, that are perfect and so.

We have to acknowledge that different nations have different idiosyncrasies, cultural and political ways. That some things can be more ok or ok in some places and in others not so or not at all, of course talking from a basic level. Is not the same how we see things in Ireland in Cantabria in Congo in Italy in Russia, in Georgia, in Korea, Japan or Libya.

But treating people like gods no way! Not because who your are but because of your work and deeds the treatment should be. And again, not god like. Anyway whoever what to be treated like that says a lot, an not good (like some politicians, official and alternatives, singers, soccer players and so)

For example Stalin didn't like it much, and he said so in more than one occasion, going as far as saying that the cult around him was develop to latter attack him.

Look this video and see how happy he was.

For sure, as he was a real revolutionary and communist, he wanted more to speak, to be heard and to make his points that to be cheer like the f.g Beatles.

The question, if why, good leader that survive him, and knew a little bit didn't take step to avoid that, like Enver Hoxha.

Anyway, is true they were other times, not all we see today could be seen then, and of course, again, humans are humans, we are not gods, therefore we can and make mistakes and we can be weak sometimes or at some points (of course not a excuse depending in what, when and the consequences  derivated of that weakness)
