Can be said that is a delicate issue? Probably, but as many others out there. Sensible issue-talking about babies, mothers,unborn babies, pregnancy- with ringing slogans in the two sides, "respect both" in the Save the 8th, "freedom of choice"in the Repeal, for example. Not easy, a lot of grey areas within and between the two "camps" or positions.Writing from an over all Republican and Communist position,or Communist Republican if you wish there are things to say in the issue and of the two camps.
First of all, as said in Mc T N post, if we talk about left, socialist and/or communist positions let us see how it was, for example, the position in the more advance State in the XX century regarding women and social issues like abortion: the USSR, and particularly in its first decades of existence.

Then,we have to say that nowadays, 2018, things are much more different in many regards. And not talking of the apparent ones, because are very thin: phones, computers, cars, new techs. This more a change, are tools of domination of the System, of control of the populations of the Nations, then with this will never agree or give them the value that the very system what us to give them, and us unfortunately many people does.
What do you prefer, been in a facebook chat, a forum, or in a pub with good company or a nice concert? what do you prefer, playing a game in play station or playing with your dog? been watching porn in internet or in the bed with someone? been envied, with lots of money driving a fast car or been truly love and respect, having some friend or someone to talk to honestly? going fast and furious and doing many thing, or going more calm, doing less things but better and in the event enjoying them more (and better)?
We can't have all, that why we have to decide, make a choice. And for doing this in the best way is better to think, think carefully before deciding. Of course there are issues more important than others. Sometimes there is a need to take a stance of course, but beware of the people that goes avoiding many important issues and then in a few, and of for them very important, they try to force you into a position, forcing you to take a stance, and quick. And this because it suits them. And we know that good and fast don't mix well, and in some issues, don't mix at all. You want me to have a position in this or that?, let me have info, give something to read, and now let me alone to think... And then, again, if this kind of peoples afterwards avoid other important and delicate issues under any excuse, then you know what they are and for whom are working or doing the job...
The main difference, as was been said, is the ignorance in many things of life itself. Not society about society, but life. And there is ignorance of Life in both camps. And the ideological black out, the ideological-political-social chaos and looseness. THIS IS THE MAIN DIFFERENCE, even they try to cover it from left, right, right and of course, so-call, liberal quarters.
Anyway, after this general departure, coming back to the issue.
Many people think or what to make think that having and abortion is something quite easy, because nowadays the medical sphere has develop much (a lot in very ugly ways and nazi-like by the way) and had lots of modern equipment, new drugs and so. Like other things. "Nah, just get sleep for a few hours, to the operations room, and that's it". Then, of course, the waking up, and then Life and time start rolling again and then, many start having mental problems and even physical. Again, this is and will be cover, or they will blame the farts of the cows.
Many people in the Repeal camp thinks like abortion is easy, unproblematic, just a operational matter. This means first of all having little respect for maternity, been pregnant and indeed the babies to came. This means and underestimation of the value of women in general and Mothers and Motherhood in particular. We won't never accept this from Communist Republican point of view.
With surprise this a kind of mentality - underestimation of the value of women in general, the natural Matriarch and Mothers and Motherhood in particular- that can be found, with more or less differences or cover, in the Save the 8th camps. Like the fact that some sector on both camps are very pro-modern science that is regard as holly facts (again with their very ugly aspects and nazi-like mentality within it).
Many people, and in many with the younger population is a matter of having sex and then if you get pregnant and does not suit, then...Then for the Save the 8th people that are fanatically oppose to contraception like condoms here we have a contradiction. Or the people that oppose abortion but will support state death penalty like in the US without a second of thinking. Or won't have a problem with the suffering of yemeni babies and kids.
Or what to say of the people that very nazi thinking style of "I want my child with blue eyes", or "I don't want my child if I see is going to have down syndrome". Remember that the first victims of the Nazi regime in Germany were the people with mental health problems and some with physical ones. And that most of the key and main leaders were gays, a fact that is cover.
Because here is other thing. Of course a bishop or a priest can't say nothing to a Mother in regard of her pregnancy. But, do we think that a gay male have more say in the issue? And to a very long extent a lesbian, a gay woman. Excuse the frankness but is like this. And let us mix a little here: like wehn gays and lesbian try to protrait themselves as victims of the system and this and that, and then will see a poor man or woman, a homeless and will be disgust at the sight, they will like it. Because he have to face it, they are very pro-capitalist minded, and many really greedy and with little empathy for nothing that stand out of their points of view. Like all this people that will select to a job a gay person before a straight one, only because the sexual orientation. All this, and worst, happened, is happening and will get worse if we keep in this same direction.
And that's why from a Communist Republican position will be closer to the Save the 8th than to the Repeal Camp. Because the Repeal Camp is the camp of "all the old things and ways are bad and have to be changed", is keeping the same direction of the last few decades, is the path that opportunist like the Provos pick.
We don't fully agree with many things of the Save the 8th camp. We even have deep criticism for many sectors within the Save the 8th camp. The last thing here is that we are friends of the Catholic Church (as said, two or three good priests does not make the Church) and many sectors close to it. The Catholic Church enemy of the traditional old ways, the Nations and the Peoples. Even will not agree with some general positions that are not so distant from the Repeal camp.
But again, we are closer to the Save the 8th, much more, than to the Repeal camp. And many people in the Save the 8th will be politically and economically of the left, Republicans and so. As far as we can see the Save the 8th camp is not, and should not be allowed to be portrait as a monopoly of the Church and their friends.
And to finish, Political Parties and Republicans groups should not allow to be forced, by any of the camps, to have a clear and definitive stance in the issue because a referendum is coming. Is any group of party, want to have a clear and definitive positions, let it be. For sure, if they are serious and even clever they will have taking everything into account and after good, proper, long and deep discussions. We only say, that in this discussions would be for the general good and to respect the Truth to talk of issues that we have just touched. Because having a debate and discussion is good. But is really good,proper and constructive is is deep, for real, with all the consequences and taking EVERYTHING, nice and ugly, into account.
A we have to have to have in mind first, that whatever the issue been this time this one, is a referendum to be hold in a part of Unfree and Divided Nation.
