During the fighting when the Spanish fascist were advancing and the spanish left was busy running and preparing the betrayal of the Cantabrian forces many women fought in the ranks of the Cantabrian Army.

After the defeat hundreds of women suffer repression, beatings, been send to concentration camps, spending years there and so.Many were killed, not a few raped as well by spanish occupation forces and their native lackeys.

And here have to be said and the point made that they were many cases that among the right wing minded cantabrians -workers and peasants- suffered repression. And among the right wing and even close to far-right cantabrians (or some fascist of the early days), were outraged with the behavior of the victorious forces. Some people had an unpleasant surprise because they they thought they belonged to theirs and that they were going to be like them, right-wing, and that all was going to be much better than before!

In the Resistance after 1937, only with a couple of exceptions, the Cantabrian Partisan Brigades were formed by men. But of course, Cantabrian Women,like in the rest of the aspects of life were a crucial part in the support and assistance, of the Resistance. The men respected that and the women knew without any need of f..g shows as nowadays.


Unfortunately nowadays the (badbut most ) feminist groups and their distorted ideology are trying to twist things.Separating them, giving focus to the fact of their womanhood (only or above all in the best of case), not that they were proud Cantabrian Women, Cantabrians with fighting spirit, with a solidarity spirit for the ones fighting with a weapon in their hand. For them, as in other cases, is not about been man or woman, is about the cause, the nation, the general good, freedom, justice. And yes,men and women sometimes use different toilets....
